Drawing to remember.

My philosophy on drawing is that it is a way of exploring concepts which lead to different insights than when you strictly approach ideas with words. When I started the course to become an art teacher in 2020/21 I felt foolish taking my notes with only written words. I wanted to approach the matter in a way that suited who I was and what my strengths were.

So I started to take illustrated notes during class. The difficulty lay in keeping up with the course as the drawings had to come as naturally as putting down words.

The results were that I had notes that were quite interesting to look back on, but I also realized that I had a far better grip on the subject matter. I assume this is because I had to immediately process the information by translating it into an image.

Our education system doesn't necessarily play to everyone's strengths, so I hope I can help kids find a way to play to theirs.
